Makhosi Poyo Inc Attorneys derives its main strength from its director Makhosi Poyo, who possesses 15 years of experience during which he acquired exceptional skills and capabilities in commercial litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, particularly in the field of employment law, insolvency law and commercial crimes.

Makhosi has a B. Proc degree from the University of the Western Cape, a Certificate in Corporate Law from UNISA, an Advanced Certificate in Labour Law (cum Laude) from Pretoria University. In 2007 under the auspices of LEAD, he completed a 3 months Commercial Law Programme which focused on aspects like Initial Public Offerings, Competition Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Insolvencies and Business rescues, Deal Structuring to name but a few.

Having worked as legal advisor for Food and Allied Workers Union and as employment law specialist for South African Local government Association, he has blossomed in understanding employment law both from employee and employer point of view and as such has a clear grasp of what individual clients in employment relations expect. With FAWU being in the private sector and SALGA being in public, this has crafted the director to have a clear grasp of various dimensions obtaining in these different sectors. As a corollary of the above, Makhosi possesses the skill to provide multi-dimensional solutions in the field of employment law including chairing disciplinary hearings, doing conciliations, mediations and arbitrations both at CCMA and bargaining councils, business restructuring and retrenchments, Labour Court litigation including review applications, summons proceedings, opposed and unopposed interdicts, compliance order applications, drafting employment law contracts, drafting collective agreements and legal advice amongst others.

Furthermore, the invaluable exposure of Makhosi Poyo in insolvency law during his 10 year spell in Pretoria Masters office separates him from the rest. Nothing matches the experience he has by being exposed as a presiding officer in creditors and interrogations meetings. The scourge of corruption permeates all sectors including the corporate world. The interrogation proceedings under the supervision of the Master attempt to identify breach of fiduciary duties by directors of insolvent companies, to retrieve monies stolen and hidden by the directors through money laundering, racketeering, tax evasion and Ponzi schemes amongst others. These are the tasks confronting state capture enquiry.

Based in Pretoria, with the above skills and the current political epoch in South Africa and obtaining challenges in the public sector, the firm is well equipped to enjoy the status of being the first amongst the equals in the services that it offers.
